PROGNOSIS – Aug 23rd @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis August 2014 EFlyer

This August the gang down at Prognosis have decided to throw the hootenanny of all hootenannies. A grand spectacle no doubt and one for the record books with special guest Dylan Griffin headlining the occasion and making his Prognosis debut. The brains behind the successful AU Underground podcast series, key contributor at Subsonic plus a tour schedule that has seen him traveling around Australia and beyond, Dylan has been stamping his mark with his musical talents for nearly a decade. Even if he is originally from Sydney, you’ll be glad he made the move down to Melbourne when you sample his sonic offerings.

To accompany our headliner and to ensure the madness reigns supreme, the lads have invited some of their favourite regulars to play versus sets with the unruly residents. Already knowing each others musical tastes inside out, these versus sets are going to be a melting pot of ideas, inspirations and let’s face it, idiocy in unhealthy doses.

Mish’Chief, Melbourne’s first lady of staunch techno is first up as she graces the Loop stage to pick up where she left off (loud and in charge). Prognosis favourite, progressive kingpin Herc Kass will also be down with a whole new bag of tricks as his label FutureForm Music moves ahead in leaps and bounds. Darkbeat’s Dave Juric stops by on the back of support slots for some really famous blokes, flying the flag for the progressive resurgence the scene is seeing. The tallest man in showbiz, ridiculously talented production powerhouse Kultrun returns for a long overdue set and will prove once and for all that he isn’t a first class jerk. Rounding out the guest list is Alex David who has been keeping himself busy in the studio since his last slot, tweaking his sound and amassing a new legion of fans from his recent mixes.

The residents J-Slyde, Aaron Static and Simon Murphy have each picked a suitable target with whom they will be laying down tunes and are excited to mix things up from the regular formula to see what magic comes of it. Visual input will once again be provided by vdmo Kstati whose artistic genius rounds out the package perfectly.

Strap on your snow chains cos it’s gonna get slippery!!!

SOUNDCLOUD ARTIST HIGHLIGHTS

Prognosis – June 21st @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis June 21st 2014 Eflyer

So not to cause any panic but we’re nearly half way through 2014… scary thought? Meh, no need to fear, after all, time flies when you’re having fun… or cocktails, or late nights, or LOUD NOISES. Luckily that’s where Prognosis steps in and combines all of those awesome things into one crazy shenanigan packed night!!!

After tirelessly trying to lure him to the Prognosis stage for a couple of years now, we have finally found a date that fits in with the schedule of globe trotting (no not the basketball team) dance floor slayer Kasey Taylor. The lad needs no introduction, having created one of Australia’s most highly regarded and longest running labels Vapour, plus a new project Lo-Fi 45 with local legend Lister Cooray. Kasey has been a regular fixture in clubs all over town as late, in amongst his overseas journeys, but his Prognosis slot will be that little extra special as we’ve given him a set where he can unleash whatever tricks he fancies, from old to new.

Matter is our next guest and is a Melbourne lad whose star continues to shine brighter. After a number of successful releases across a range of techno and progressive labels, plus sets that have turned heads of some tough critics, this will be a treat. Moskalin also stops by for his first Prognosis set. Co-founder of the successful Doesn’t Matter events, Moskalin had a solid upbringing on dusty dance floors and has fine-tuned his sound to amass a solid following in clubs around town. Moskalin will be taking the tunage deeeeeep.

With residents DJs J-Slyde, Simon Murphy and Aaron Static, along with visual ninja vdmo Kstati projecting onto Loop’s two 30ft screens for the duration. FREE ENTRY.

Game on!!

J-Slyde & Simon Murphy to mix For The Record’s first compilation!

by J-Slyde

ftr-logoJ-Slyde and Simon Murphy have been commissioned to mix For The Record’s first mix compilation! Long-time friends both on the dance-floor and off, FTR have been involved with us for quite some time – whether it be through their unwavering support of our events through to the inclusion of their music in our DJ’s sets, they’ve help play a large part in helping make us what we are today. Closely following their label since its inception several years ago, Simon and Jordz have been keen supporters of the music that they’ve been pushing – with quite a number of their releases finding a home in their respective CD wallets. Needless to say both the boys were overjoyed when they were invited to be apart of the project. Jumping at the opportunity and wasting no time both have been hard at work sifting through FTR’s comprehensive back-catalog and compiling a short list of music and amassing ideas.

Always keen to support new talent, FTR and the boys are now taking submissions of new music for possible inclusion on the compilation. Whether you’re an unsigned bedroom banger, or an already established artist, we’d very much like to hear from you! Both Simon and Jordz are super keen to include a vast array of different music on the mix and are hoping to showcase as much local talent as possible in the process.

So if you think you have what it takes, head on over to FTR’s website to submit a demo! Submissions close June 1st, so ensure you get your ass into gear ASAP! We’ve heard from a good source that the early workings of the compilation are already underway, so don’t sleep!

PROGNOSIS – April 19th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis - April 2014 EFlyer

Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and rave every now and then, you might miss it.

Prognosis this Easter weekend is going straight for the wascally wabbits jugular with the debuts of 3 new guests joining those usual suspects we can’t seem to shake (they know where we rave after all).

First up is a producer whose star has continued to shine forever brighter since his remix was handpicked to win the Minus remix competition in 2011. There was no ‘downloaded for Richie Hawtin’ here, it was chosen by the man himself. With releases on labels like Subsonic music, appearances at festivals like Rainbow Serpent, Subsonic & Strawberry Fields, plus a recent Euro tour, Oblique Industries is back in Straya with a fully stacked live show he’s hanging to unleash.

Rework’s pinup boy Miza is the next cab off the rank and will be stopping by to lay down some wonky melodic techno and minimal. Young gun Torben who has added his musical flavours to a couple of recent Darkbeat parties will also be by with a crate full of smooth house and funked up techno.

Rounding out the night is FutureForm’s head honcho Herc Kass whose global audience continues to grow as he tears Melbourne a new one at every opportunity. J-Slyde will be building the groove with his precision skills and Simon Murphy will be dissecting his tunes and delivering them how only he can.

Visual duties are in the capable hands of the master vdmo Kstati whose magic is an integral part to every event.

Prognosis Third Birthday Retrospective Mix

by J-Slyde

Prognosis Third Birthday Retrospective MixEvery two months for the last three years we’ve been heading down to a little nightclub in Melbourne called Loop and putting on a dedicated prog and tech night we like to call Prognosis. What started out as a small event with a handful of close friends has slowly progressed into one of our favourite events in Melbourne. Not only has it given us a platform to play some of our favourite styles of electronic music, but it’s also seen us house some of Australia’s finest progressive and techno artists, with a small selection of renowned international acts. Needless to say it’s been one hellova ride and set the stage for some absolutely unforgettable nights.

On February 15th 2014 we celebrated our third birthday. To celebrate Simon, Aaron and J-Slyde decided to put together a retrospective mix comprising some of their favourite Prognosis tunes from the past three years. What eventuated is a two hour mix covering a great snap-shot of the type of music and sounds we’ve been pushing since the inception.

The mix was loaded onto custom made Prognosis USB slapbands which were handed out at our Third Birthday event to the first 25 on the dance-floor – for those that missed out on a slapband USB, we’ve now uploaded the mix to Soundcloud!

Massive thanks to everyone who has shown us support, come to our parties and listened to our music since our inception. We honestly would be nowhere without you. Here’s to another three successful years!! 😀

Prognosis ft Luke Porter (UK) – Feb 15th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis February 2014 Eflyer

2014 is off to a scorching start both on and off the dancefloor, so to keep that trend going and the party vibe pumpin’ the Prognosis band of merry men are back for some more auditory adventures spliced with just the right amount of chaos. It’s back to Loop we go with a special selection of treats to please the musical aficionado in us all!

A headliner that we’ve been trying to lock in pretty much since inception is none other than Luke Porter. Melbourne born he headed to the UK to unleash his talent on a global audience and hasn’t looked back. Production extraordinaire and a wizard behind the decks, Luke Porter is widely renowned for his amazing skills, playing some of the biggest clubs and festivals in the world. Accompanied by a slew of releases on some of the most highly regarded labels across the globe, Porter will be bringing his progressive house prowess to Loop for what will be a truly special occasion.

Back from an extended stint perfecting his tan, rhyming slang and amassing an enviable collection of bragworthy dancefloor excursions in the UK, one of Prognosis’s favourite brothers from another mother, Dave Juric, returns to take off right where he left off. With a knack for transfixing punters with his smooth skills, tasty tunes and ghetto swag, Juric is back to make up for lost time with a set loaded with tunes he has been hand picking specifically for his momentous return. We welcome him back to the fold with open arms.

Simon Murphy, J-Slyde and Aaron Static round out the lineup with giddy excitement and eclectic musical missions to support and keep the vibe alive alongside our esteemed guests. With each doing big things around town and beyond, expect the unexpected and get there early to see the boys work their magic.

No Prognosis lineup would be complete without visual accompaniment by a hypnotising, mesmerising and inspiring VJ with Manoeuvre.tv jumping on board for this one.

FREE ENTRY – Be early to avoid lines. Wear comfy shoes.

Dance like everybody is watching but you don’t care cos they’re probably just admiring your sweet sweet moves!!
