Prognosis ~ Feb 18th @ Loop

by J-Slyde

Prognosis - Feb 18th

Coming off the end of a most successful year Prognosis are getting set to usher in 2012 the only way they know how – hot beats, good times and a shitload of PROG!

Headlining festivities for this edition are Chris Meehan and The Chunky Fuckers.

Somewhat of a legendary figure in prog-circles around town, Chris Meehan has done it all – from holding residencies at some of Melbourne’s most influential and successful club nights (Qbar Sundays, Republic @ Room 680), through to supporting major international guests such as Sasha, Digweed, Satoshi, Hernan, Seamen and Nick Warren. Representing brands such as global Underground and Renaissance whenever in town, Chris is well respected by his peers and punters and not only recognized as a true DJ, but also a highly accomplished producer, with recent releases on Avante Garde, Baroque and Movement Records, to name a few.

Stalwarts in the Melbourne prog scene, The Chunky Fuckers (Jayson Holden and Herc Kass) are well versed in all that is funky and driving. Not just DJ’s however, the boys are extremely talented on the production tip, and with third member in tow, Adam Holden, they have had a bevvy of releases out on Underground City, Polytechnic, Movement recordings, Overground Digital and Indigo. Needless to say, when they hit the decks for a 2 hour feature set – mayhem is set to ensue!

On support duties, we’re very excited to welcome newcomer to the decks – Thomm Brooke. Always on the lookout for fresh and interesting talent, our ears were pricked when we heard his latest promo mix. Not intent on letting such talent go to waste in the bedroom, we’ve managed to convince him to come down and open up proceedings with his mix of deep and sublime beats.

Residents J-Slyde, Simon Murphy and Aaron Static will also be in tow – bringing to the table their usual blend of upfront prog and tech tunes.

With our two resident VJs on a break, visual duties for this edition will be handled by the extremely talented Manoeuvre.tv aka Richard De Souza. One of Melbourne’s, if not Australia’s, most talented visual artists, Richard has done them all – Big Day Out, Summadayze, Parklife, along with visual production on Ministry Of Sound commercials, and much much more. To say we’re in good hands would be an understatement!

Prognosis December Flyer

One year on from their first event under the Prognosis banner, with no sign of slowing down, the krew are getting set to celebrate the only way they know how – hot beats, tasty beverages, and shenanigans a’plenty!

Intent on doing something special for such a momentous occasion, we couldn’t think of a better artist to headline and celebrate Prognosis’ first birthday than NYC protégé come Melbourne beat wizard, PQM. With a DJ and production career that dates back to the early 90’s, PQM has a vast musical knowledge that will no doubt be used to good measure. With the opportunity to flex his musical muscles over a two hour feature set, PQM is set to delve into his extensive collection of tunes to deliver a set of truly epic proportions.

After turning the FB world green with envy over his international exploits, local trance favourite Jed returns from overseas and will be stepping up to the plate to play his first ever ‘non-trance’ set. As part of Rush with events pushing techno and progressive alongside trance, Jed is well versed in the sounds that will no doubt whip Loop into a frenzy.

Substance kingpin and crowd favourite Taran M returns from quasi-retirement to get amongst the lunacy as he lays down the sweetest of beats and other tasty treats from his repertoire. Rounding out the night will of course be the Prognosis residents J-Slyde, Simon Murphy and Aaron Static. Expect the unexpected as the three continue their musical missions into melodic madness.

No Prognosis would be complete without captivating, hypnotizing visuals which will once again be provided by Vdmo Kstati. With a booking schedule jam packed with festival and club events, the forever growing arsenal at this VJ’s disposal will ensure the night has an extraordinary audio visual feast!

Prognosis August 20th EFlyer

Back at Loop for their bi-monthly edition, the Prognosis krew are gearing up for yet another prog-fueled party of legendary status! Gaining quite a notorious reputation amongst underground EDM circles, not only for the quality of music at their events, but also for the fantastic vibe and up-for-it crowd, Prognosis are set to host one of their largest events to date!

Headlining the festivities, Dean Millson, front man of the Private Function parties and one of the crew behind Pretty Simple at Ffour, joins us for a smathering of all things progressive. Playing a key part in the flourishing Melbourne prog scene of the early 2000’s, Dean has been a stalwart in Melbourne’s local underground scene for quite some time. With a keen nod towards his roots, whilst delving deep into his vast record collection, Dean is set to offer up what will no doubt be a set full of old-school flavours along with newer cuts of the highest quality. Known for his precise mixing ability and vast knowledge of all things progressive, we couldn’t think of better hands to be in!

Alongside Dean, we are also extremely excited to welcome two of sunny Queensland’s most finest beat purveyors, Travis Lucas and Dan Mada.

Frontman of Qld based production company Involved, Travis has been leaving his mark across the sunny Gold Coast and Brisbane for the past few years. Not just restricted to Oz, he’s toured and performed the world over – from supporting Carl Cox at Fabric in London, to more recently entertaining the Japanese massive in Osaka and beyond. His unique approach to music has seen him in high demand on a truly global scale.

Adding to the madness, and definitely a case of saving the best till last, Dan Mada, another key member from the Involved krew, will bring his unique blend of house and summery vibes to cold ol’ Melbourne.

Visual duties will yet again be handled by the highly talented VJ PiedPiper, projecting onto two 20ft screens throughout the venue for the entire night.

Auditory prog-support will be handled by the mischievous Prognosis trio: Aaron Static, Simon Murphy and J-Slyde.

Prognosis ~ June 18th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis June

With a mere three successful events under their belts, the Prognosis krew have secured themselves a bi-monthly residency at the infamous Loop (the 3rd Saturday of every second month for those keeping track!).

A sought after venue in it’s own right, the last three Prognosis events have seen Loop transformed into a veritable wonderland of delectable auditory mayhem. Playing host to some of Melbourne’s most talented DJs, producers and visual artists, Prognosis has shown with only a handful of events that they are a truly unique event worthy of attention. Needless to say that this has shown to be common place and the trend is set to continue come round four on June 18th!

Continuing with their offering of high quality talent, the Prognosis krew have been lucky enough to secure Canadian born Timothy Allan. Now residing in sunny Melbourne Tim has earnt a solid reputation in the EDM scene with a multitude of worldwide top 10 Billboard, DMC and ARIA charting releases and remixes, including multiple tracks which have hit that magical number 1. His remix (now the main mix) of ‘The Shrink – Nervous Breakdown’ was DMC’s 5th biggest club track in the UK for 2010 and voted 2010′s 7th biggest dance track in the UK by Music Week. How’s that for talent?!

Welcoming back to the decks after a one event hiatus, Aaron Static also joins the ranks. Receiving airplay from Markus Schulz, Jaytech, Cid Inc, Sasha Le Monnier over the past few months, Static’s notoriety in the EDM scene has been going from strength to strength. Currently knuckling down on production, he’s been hard at work putting the finishes touches on one of his biggest releases of the year – Solar Empire. Set to be released on Indigo Records towards the end of June, Static will test drive the high quality Progressive anthem exclusively at Prognosis. Needless to say, for Static and Prog fans alike, it’ll be a set not to miss!

Visuals for the evening will be brought to you by VJ Pied Piper, while audio support duties will be handled by LockNLoad front man, Jules Plees, along with young gun and EDM aficionado Insomnia. Oh, and those guys J-Slyde and Simon Murphy might also be around.
