PROGNOSIS – Aug 17th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis August 17th @ LOOP

For some, winter is a time to sit at home, eat comfort food and hide away from the world in a seasonal depression that seems somewhat difficult to shake. Thankfully the good (albeit wicked) folk down at Prognosis are here to sweep aside the sooks and keep the dancefloor swinging. Once again we’ve declared ‘no rest for the wicked’ as the enlightened merry masses shall spend their night huddled around glowing speaker stacks blasting aural delicacies to feed the soul and
warm the cockles.

For the next edition of Prognosis, one of Australia’s most prolific and inspiring labels and party programmers (plus a favourite label of Simon Murphy, J-Slyde & vdmo Kstati), Open Records, lends us two of their most talented beat masters. Hailing from sunny Cairns, FunkForm is the first on board to give us a glimpse of why he is one of the most in demand producers and remixers in Australia. His meteoric rise to global domination is a testament to his creative determination and skill. You would have heard his tracks played at Prognosis on more than a few occasions, now it’s his turn to deliver them on a platter for the local devotees.

Up next is local lad and Open Records star Rhythm Nectar whose phonical adventures have led him on a journey paved with deep melancholic tech house and rolling progressive techno. A sound that will no doubt gel instantly with the Prognosis massive, this is a set that you should be excited about. Back for another trip deeeeep into the vaults of a musical aficionado, Thomm Brooke is once again primed for some aural pleasure. With a blossoming foray into production and an eclectic taste that is second to none, this will be another fine display from Thomm.

The three stooges, Herc Kass, J-Slyde & Aaron Static, round out the DJ lineup and connect the dots between the highly talented guests this month. Their musical stylings are amongst the best in Australia and they continue to prove this at each step up on the stage. With world class visuals provided by vdmo Kstati (who also represents Open Records, Australia wide) this night will be up there with the best. Don’t be a winter stay at home sooky la, do your feet a favour and let them dance.

PROGNOSIS – June 15th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis June 15th Eflyer

Well, well, well… what do we have here then? Another stacked lineup brought to you by the musically intoxicated folk down at Prognosis HQ by the looks of it. A healthy dose of progressive spliced with a metric fcukton of techno? Perhaps even a hint of house and disco on the menu? Rightio then kiddies, carry on…

And carry on we will! With all the makings of another shenanigan filled evening, musical stylings will be provided by a troop of auditory aficionados ready to tell their story through song*.

Back on deck after a stellar debut earlier this year, Rich Curtis will be delivering the smooth sounds that have seen him in demand across Australia and the globe. A prolific producer with a slew of releases on some of the biggest labels in the game, Rich’s DJ sets are not to be missed.

Gabe Gilmour makes his highly anticipated Prognosis debut which will no doubt be something special. Having mastered his craft whilst DJing and running events in Canberra, Gabe has received critical acclaim from promoters and punters in Australia and beyond. A true craftsman with a deep passion for his music, Gabe’s music will instantly find a welcome home amongst the Prognosis crowd.

Kultrun is another returning guest who realistically needs no introduction. Production skills that leave many for dead, releases that show his depth musically which have received props from some of the biggest names in the scene and DJ sets that have attracted high praise, Melbourne lad Kultrun will deliver once again.

The funkiest chuckers in town have got the band back together for an exclusive Chunky Fuckers set. We’ve missed their on stage supremacy that has turned the Prognosis dancefloor on its head multiple times. Add in residents J-Slyde and Aaron Static who have both been amassing huge numbers of fans across the globe with their mixes and have continually dealt feet seeking missiles across Melbourne and we really are in for a treat. VJ Pied Piper will be leading the children of the night with his visual wizardry. Entry is free so resistance is futile!

*Note: Microphones are strictly banned. We trust their taste in tunes but vocal stylings are discouraged with swift retribution for those who disobey.

NO FIXED SHAPE – May 24th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

No Fixed Shape May 24th Eflyer

As the days draw shorter and the weather cools down, the Inner City Rolling Committee prepare to warm things up by embarking on their first No Fixed Shape for 2013. Clearly in the mind that dancing to liquid and deep DnB is the best cure for the cold weather, the krew have locked in Friday, May 24th to unleash their unique blend of audio-visual bass-heavy mayhem.

Headlining duties for this round comes in the form of Too Much! front man, David Bass. A key figure in the Melbourne bass music scene, Mr Bass has been seminal in bringing underground bass music to the Melbourne massive for quite some time. Co-running the Too Much! collective the man has hosted and supported acts such as: Lunice, Ramadanman, N-Type, Untold, Ikonika, Oneman, Egyptrixx, Mosca plus many more. Hand-picked for his intuitive ear and vast musical knowledge in all things bass related, we have no doubt that school will be in session the moment David steps up to the decks.

First in line for support we welcome Danny Dobs. Once known as a Pany Snort, Danny has covered more musical ground (and monikers) than most DJs can shake a stick at. Involved in every aspect of the dance music scene from avid punter, to of course DJ, through to event organizer running the Robo-Tech events, the man has shown to be the whole package – a triple threat of awesome musical knowledge, talent and grassroots know-how. With a spirit and love for the scene and music that can only be described as contagious, we welcome Danny with open arms and look forward to hearing him flex his bass-muscles.

Rounding the guest slots off we have young-gun Switchstate. An obsessed DnB fanatic Switchstate has shown with but a handful of gigs a talented ear to bass-driven music well beyond his years. Recently showcased on Elements Radio, the minute we heard him play we knew we had to have him down.

Our rascally team of NFS residents FLIP3K, James Brooke and J-Slyde will also be in attendance doing what they do best – rocking speakers and drinking the bar clean.

Visual duties will be handled once again by the insanely talented Manoeuvre.tv. If you’ve been at any of the last NFS events we’ve thrown you’ll know how mind-bending the visuals have been and understand why we’re so excited to have him back onboard.
