Void Acoustics Air Motion Array

Audiophiles, tune selectors, dance floor enthusiasts and weekend warriors rejoice… Our favourite lil club has invested in some serious auditory artillery and it sounds amaaaaazing!

As far as audio systems go, there are favourites across the globe that always spring up in people’s minds. Brands like Funktion One have become (rave) household names and big systems with big sound enchant all whom cross their paths. Whilst the average punter just wants it to be loud, all those in the know understand that the real magic being done when the system is tuned perfectly to suit the venue for which it is installed. With this in mind, the lovely folk at Loop went speaker shopping and when they surveyed their options there was only one that would perfect the sound at their venue, Void Acoustics.

Void’s globally renowned sound systems, with their distinctive red speakers, are currently installed at electronic institutions like Ibiza’s DC10. High-end systems engineered to not only fill the space but also to never compromise on sound quality. The installation at Loop has come about through extensive planning and testing which will mean that the volume will increase as the arrangement holds the sound where it needs to be… on the dance floor.

J-Slyde and Simon Murphy were invited down to the launch of the system and took their Mahala pal Dave Juric along to see just how good it sounded. All agreed that there is a remarkable difference and each of the lads was licking their lips at the chance to play some tunes on the new system. The sound is crisp, clear and with further improvements already planned, it’s only going to get better.

Luckily for us this Saturday plays host to our debut on the new system as we welcome Melbourne legend Phil K for the feature set of the evening. Mish’Chief and Sebastian Wild round out the guests lineup with the usual Prognosis residents, J-Slyde, Simon Murphy and Aaron Static, in tow, along with vdmo Kstati providing mind-bending visuals for the duration. The team are ready to give the new sound system one serious working, so make sure you come down this weekend to experience the amazing sound in person.

TECHNOSIS – April 18 @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Technosis April 18 at Loop

IT’S A TECHNO TAKEOVER!!!

The techno warriors have taken siege and are finally getting their way muahahaha!!!

Well that’s not entirely true since Prognosis has an open musical policy and refuses to be bound by genre… BUT… Murphy got sick of people always asking if it was a prog night… Sooo we present a tech-heavy event TECHNOSIS with the usual Prognosis twists and turns. The musical journey will still be there but layered with a healthy dose of techno action!

Firstly, we have recruited one of Australia’s undisputed techno kings, Dave Pham to lead the charge, driving his forklift into the depths of techno tablist territory. Playing alongside him will be techno aficionado Caine Sinclair who always packs a punch. Joining the lads will be Nosis favourite Herc Kass who is back for another fix after a summer filled with festival madness. Making his debut will be local legend Danny Dobs who just got back from an international tour and has a bag of tricks ready to be unleashed. With these warriors at the helm, Loop is set to be treated to a feast of tasty techno beats.

Backed up by residents Aaron Static, J-Slyde and Simon Murphy, the techno takeover will be spliced with loopy warehouse goodness you won’t want to miss. Chief visual conductor vdmo Kstati will be weaving his magic on the big screens and has some new tricks up his sleeve. Get in early… it will be a BIG one!!!

Also, don’t forget to grab your tickets ASAP to catch some of the Prognosis krew playing some Easter beats at Fourcolours – The Prelude alongside Eelke Kleijn!

PROGNOSIS – White Night Special – February 21st @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis-February-2015-Set-times

Prognosis February 2015 Eflyer

February 21st usher’s in our first Prognosis for 2015, and whilst that’s a pretty monumental occasion in itself it also happens to be the date of Melbourne’s White Night spectacular. One might say the pairing of the two is fate, others might say it’s due to Loop’s programming – whatever the case may be, we’re getting ready to put on one hellova’ party! Starting the evening a whole 2 hours early at 8pm, we’re doing all we can to ensure that Loop will be a safe haven for all of you prog and tech heads. It won’t matter if you’re already planning to head to White Night, or just keen on some quality beats; we’ll be at it from the get-go and we’ll be going all bloody night!

We knew we had to pull together something pretty special for this kind of occasion, so for headlining duties we welcome back none other than prog-kingpins Luke Porter and Soulfire – previously both UK based, the boys now call Melbourne home – which is kind of lucky for us because it means we get to see them a whole heap more!

Luke is widely renowned for his amazing skills behind the decks, playing some of the biggest clubs and festivals in the world. Accompanied by a slew of releases on some of the most highly regarded labels across the globe such as microCastle, Sudbeat and Lowbit – to name but a few.

Soulfire has been on the production front since early 2003, and with runaway success the man shortly thereafter launched his own label, Soulfire Downloads. Since it’s inception the label has boasted hard-hitting releases and remixes from the scenes most talented artists.

Support comes in the form of three hugely talented and indemand local artists that we’ve been trying to lock down for yonks! FLIP3K, Damir Smith and Jade May. Each bringing their unique styles to the decks, we will no doubt be in for a treat. Rounding things off in the residential area are J-Slyde and Aaron Static, with screen handling of Loop’s two 30ft screens by our resident visual mestro, vdmo Kstati.

Prognosis December Promo – Mixed by Andrew Wowk

by J-Slyde

andrew_wowkSydney residing, musically talented, all-round nice guy and one of our guest DJs for our December 20th edition of Prognosis, Andrew Wowk, has graced us with an expertly crafted promo mix in the lead up! It’s a seriously delicious affair that blurs the lines between deep melodic techno and progressive infused house – exactly the type of sounds we like to hear at Prognosis!

Here’s what Andrew had to say…
“I am lucky enough to be heading down to Melbourne to play at Prognosis on December 20th, so I put together a mix of some tunes I am liking at the moment that are relevant to the night. It’s not a “here’s all the stuff I’m going to play” type mix…it’s more of a snapshot of some of the things I’m enjoying at the moment that I think fit the Prognosis ethos. Hope you enjoy it!”

Head on over to Soundcloud to download and stream, and ensure your volume dial is set to MAX!
