TECHNOSIS – April 18 @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Technosis April 18 at Loop

IT’S A TECHNO TAKEOVER!!!

The techno warriors have taken siege and are finally getting their way muahahaha!!!

Well that’s not entirely true since Prognosis has an open musical policy and refuses to be bound by genre… BUT… Murphy got sick of people always asking if it was a prog night… Sooo we present a tech-heavy event TECHNOSIS with the usual Prognosis twists and turns. The musical journey will still be there but layered with a healthy dose of techno action!

Firstly, we have recruited one of Australia’s undisputed techno kings, Dave Pham to lead the charge, driving his forklift into the depths of techno tablist territory. Playing alongside him will be techno aficionado Caine Sinclair who always packs a punch. Joining the lads will be Nosis favourite Herc Kass who is back for another fix after a summer filled with festival madness. Making his debut will be local legend Danny Dobs who just got back from an international tour and has a bag of tricks ready to be unleashed. With these warriors at the helm, Loop is set to be treated to a feast of tasty techno beats.

Backed up by residents Aaron Static, J-Slyde and Simon Murphy, the techno takeover will be spliced with loopy warehouse goodness you won’t want to miss. Chief visual conductor vdmo Kstati will be weaving his magic on the big screens and has some new tricks up his sleeve. Get in early… it will be a BIG one!!!

Also, don’t forget to grab your tickets ASAP to catch some of the Prognosis krew playing some Easter beats at Fourcolours – The Prelude alongside Eelke Kleijn!

PROGNOSIS – Aug 23rd @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis August 2014 EFlyer

This August the gang down at Prognosis have decided to throw the hootenanny of all hootenannies. A grand spectacle no doubt and one for the record books with special guest Dylan Griffin headlining the occasion and making his Prognosis debut. The brains behind the successful AU Underground podcast series, key contributor at Subsonic plus a tour schedule that has seen him traveling around Australia and beyond, Dylan has been stamping his mark with his musical talents for nearly a decade. Even if he is originally from Sydney, you’ll be glad he made the move down to Melbourne when you sample his sonic offerings.

To accompany our headliner and to ensure the madness reigns supreme, the lads have invited some of their favourite regulars to play versus sets with the unruly residents. Already knowing each others musical tastes inside out, these versus sets are going to be a melting pot of ideas, inspirations and let’s face it, idiocy in unhealthy doses.

Mish’Chief, Melbourne’s first lady of staunch techno is first up as she graces the Loop stage to pick up where she left off (loud and in charge). Prognosis favourite, progressive kingpin Herc Kass will also be down with a whole new bag of tricks as his label FutureForm Music moves ahead in leaps and bounds. Darkbeat’s Dave Juric stops by on the back of support slots for some really famous blokes, flying the flag for the progressive resurgence the scene is seeing. The tallest man in showbiz, ridiculously talented production powerhouse Kultrun returns for a long overdue set and will prove once and for all that he isn’t a first class jerk. Rounding out the guest list is Alex David who has been keeping himself busy in the studio since his last slot, tweaking his sound and amassing a new legion of fans from his recent mixes.

The residents J-Slyde, Aaron Static and Simon Murphy have each picked a suitable target with whom they will be laying down tunes and are excited to mix things up from the regular formula to see what magic comes of it. Visual input will once again be provided by vdmo Kstati whose artistic genius rounds out the package perfectly.

Strap on your snow chains cos it’s gonna get slippery!!!

SOUNDCLOUD ARTIST HIGHLIGHTS

PROGNOSIS – Dec 21st @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis Dec 2013 Eflyer

As the year 2013 draws to a close and we reflect upon the year we have had, we surround ourselves with those we hold dearly, reminisce about the good times (and the bad) whilst looking towards the coming year with the wide eyed positivity and wild imagination of a child. Momentarily it’s quite wonderful…. Then BAM, every shop you enter exhumes every remaining glint of positivity out through a carol-laden ride into Scrooge’s bah humbug mentality. This my friends, is where we discover the true meaning of Christmas… sipping on your beverage of choice whilst flailing ones arms over-enthusiastically and flushing out your poor carol-effected ears with the finest of tunes provided by some of Melbourne’s best… i.e. IT’S PROGNOSIS TIME.

And what a special treat we have for you. One of Australia’s most loved and highly regarded tune experts (plus Murphy’s favourite DJ of all time), Dave Pham is set to grace the Prognosis stage for the first (and long overdue) time. Listing his auditory achievements and dancefloor conquests would take us until at least next Christmas so let us just say this… Dave Pham is about as good as it gets… anywhere. The music speaks for itself… it’s Pretty Simple really.

Also making his Prognosis debut is long time dancefloor warrior and tune encyclopaedia Brynley Cullen. As the host of Doesn’t Matter with his crew of merry men, Cullen is a true advocate of all that is musically mindblowing and will fit right in with the audiophiles at Prognosis. The next two local heroes need no introduction and are regular fixtures on the Loop stage. Mish’Chief is back to lay down her signature staunch techno, delivered with delightful devastation that we all love so much whilst Herc Kass returns to settle unfinished business with the dancefloor he has captivated on numerous occasions.

With Captain J-Slyde on shore leave to Europe for a few weeks, Simon Murphy and Aaron Static round out the lineup and are under strict instructions to maximise shenanigans whilst delivering their blend of chromatic Christmas calamity. With vdmo Kstati on visuals, regulars that throw shapes on the dancefloor that would make even Kris Kringle blush, more techno than you could poke a reindeer at and a year’s worth of memories to cheers to, expect a BIG one.

PROGNOSIS – Aug 17th @ LOOP

Prognosis August 17th @ LOOP

For some, winter is a time to sit at home, eat comfort food and hide away from the world in a seasonal depression that seems somewhat difficult to shake. Thankfully the good (albeit wicked) folk down at Prognosis are here to sweep aside the sooks and keep the dancefloor swinging. Once again we’ve declared ‘no rest for the wicked’ as the enlightened merry masses shall spend their night huddled around glowing speaker stacks blasting aural delicacies to feed the soul and
warm the cockles.

For the next edition of Prognosis, one of Australia’s most prolific and inspiring labels and party programmers (plus a favourite label of Simon Murphy, J-Slyde & vdmo Kstati), Open Records, lends us two of their most talented beat masters. Hailing from sunny Cairns, FunkForm is the first on board to give us a glimpse of why he is one of the most in demand producers and remixers in Australia. His meteoric rise to global domination is a testament to his creative determination and skill. You would have heard his tracks played at Prognosis on more than a few occasions, now it’s his turn to deliver them on a platter for the local devotees.

Up next is local lad and Open Records star Rhythm Nectar whose phonical adventures have led him on a journey paved with deep melancholic tech house and rolling progressive techno. A sound that will no doubt gel instantly with the Prognosis massive, this is a set that you should be excited about. Back for another trip deeeeep into the vaults of a musical aficionado, Thomm Brooke is once again primed for some aural pleasure. With a blossoming foray into production and an eclectic taste that is second to none, this will be another fine display from Thomm.

The three stooges, Herc Kass, J-Slyde & Aaron Static, round out the DJ lineup and connect the dots between the highly talented guests this month. Their musical stylings are amongst the best in Australia and they continue to prove this at each step up on the stage. With world class visuals provided by vdmo Kstati (who also represents Open Records, Australia wide) this night will be up there with the best. Don’t be a winter stay at home sooky la, do your feet a favour and let them dance.

PROGNOSIS – June 15th @ LOOP

by J-Slyde

Prognosis June 15th Eflyer

Well, well, well… what do we have here then? Another stacked lineup brought to you by the musically intoxicated folk down at Prognosis HQ by the looks of it. A healthy dose of progressive spliced with a metric fcukton of techno? Perhaps even a hint of house and disco on the menu? Rightio then kiddies, carry on…

And carry on we will! With all the makings of another shenanigan filled evening, musical stylings will be provided by a troop of auditory aficionados ready to tell their story through song*.

Back on deck after a stellar debut earlier this year, Rich Curtis will be delivering the smooth sounds that have seen him in demand across Australia and the globe. A prolific producer with a slew of releases on some of the biggest labels in the game, Rich’s DJ sets are not to be missed.

Gabe Gilmour makes his highly anticipated Prognosis debut which will no doubt be something special. Having mastered his craft whilst DJing and running events in Canberra, Gabe has received critical acclaim from promoters and punters in Australia and beyond. A true craftsman with a deep passion for his music, Gabe’s music will instantly find a welcome home amongst the Prognosis crowd.

Kultrun is another returning guest who realistically needs no introduction. Production skills that leave many for dead, releases that show his depth musically which have received props from some of the biggest names in the scene and DJ sets that have attracted high praise, Melbourne lad Kultrun will deliver once again.

The funkiest chuckers in town have got the band back together for an exclusive Chunky Fuckers set. We’ve missed their on stage supremacy that has turned the Prognosis dancefloor on its head multiple times. Add in residents J-Slyde and Aaron Static who have both been amassing huge numbers of fans across the globe with their mixes and have continually dealt feet seeking missiles across Melbourne and we really are in for a treat. VJ Pied Piper will be leading the children of the night with his visual wizardry. Entry is free so resistance is futile!

*Note: Microphones are strictly banned. We trust their taste in tunes but vocal stylings are discouraged with swift retribution for those who disobey.
